Hiking & Waterfalls @ Cockscomb Jaguar Preserve

Cockscomb is the world's first jaguar preserve and offers great hiking opportunities. Within this spectacular preserve the jungle is dense beautiful with abundant flora and fauna.

On this trip you’ll see birds and butterflies. The forest is filled with mammals like peccaries, deer, agoutis, gibnuts, anteaters, kinkajous, and tapirs. On the rare occasion, jaguars have been sighted.

Cockscomb adventures include half a dozen hiking trails with various challenging slopes and steepness.. Bring your swimwear! There are several waterfalls and natural pools on the trails or you can rent an inner tube and have a relaxing one-hour float down the river. Finally, be sure to check out the plane crash!

Zipline, Hiking & Waterfalls @ Mayflower Bocawina National Park

Hiking in Mayflower Bocawina promises an exciting adventure in a lush subtropical rainforest. The park is thick with trees, orchids, ferns and colorful birdlife. Significantly, it is situated next to some unexcavated Maya ruins. For serious hikers, you can climb the steep Antelope trail. At the top of the trail there’s a rewarding vista, a cascading waterfall and a natural pool to swim in. It’s a perfect way to cool down before heading back.

Mayflower Bocawina also offers Belize’s longest zipline facility. It’s a great full day adventure if you combine hiking in the morning with ziplining in the afternoon. Hiking & Waterfalls @ Billy Barquedier National Park

Billy Barquedier is a hidden gem of a national park, located right off the Hummingbird Highway. A visit to the gorgeous waterfall requires only a 15 minute hike, making it a nice half-day option! This walk is relatively easy and requires a minimum of physical effort. Follow a trail and that criss-crosses the river, and you’ll be rewarded with by the stunning water flowing over the precipice into a perfectly-shaped gorge and natural swimming pool.

A second, longer and more challenging trail includes an observation tower with stunning views of the valley.

Scenic View Point @ Hummingbird Highway

From the top of short 25 min somewhat steep hike on a path through the rainforest which wraps along some limestone cliffs, a 360° scenic view of the Maya Mountains Range is offered. As the hike is located close to a nice jungle resort, it provides the opportunity to have a drink or a bite in a very serene setting after finishing the hike.
